Winter Flu & Covid Campaigns + RSV, Shingles and Pneumococcal Vaccinations
Flu - CLINIC DATES - 3rd October, 4th October, 5th October, 12th October, 19th October 2024
This year NHS England have moved the start date for the national flu campaign to October. You will be unable to receive your vaccine before this date.
The practice will be running specific clinics for flu and flu & covid. These will be schedule from October onwards. We will begin to invite patients from September.
NHS England have confirmed eligibility as below:
- those aged 65 years and over
- those aged 18 years to under 65 years in clinical risk groups
- those in long-stay residential care homes
- carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
- close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
Covid Vaccinations - CLINIC DATES - 5th October, 12th October, 19th October 2024
A winter Covid vaccination campaign has been announced and this will coincide with our Flu campaign.
JCVI advises that a covid-19 vaccine should be offered to:
- Adults aged 65 and over
- Residents in a care home for older adults
- Persons aged 6 month to 64 years in a clinical risk group
Child Flu Clinic (2 or 3 years on 31/8/2024)
We have two clinics planned on the xx and xx September (dates TBC). Booking into these clinics will be through a direct bookable link which will be sent to parent and carers of eligible children.
Vaccination to be given by your child school:
- All Primary School children (reception to year 6)
- All year 7 to year 11 children in secondary school
NEW RSV Vaccination
From 1 September 2024, those who turn 75 and those age 75 to 79 will be eligible for a free vaccine to protect them from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
RSV is an infectious disease of the airways and lungs. RSV infection often causes symptoms similar to a cold, including:
- cough
- sore throat
- sneezing
- a runny or blocked nose
You'll be able to get the vaccine if:
- you're aged 75 to 79
- you're 28 weeks pregnant or more – this will help protect your baby for the first few months after they're born
We will be holding clinics for the RSV vaccine in Sept.
Shingles Vaccinations
Please contact the practice.
The shingles vaccine is recommended for people at higher risk from shingles, including all adults turning 65, those aged 70 to 79 and those aged 50 and over with a severely weakened immune system.
Pneumococcal Vaccinations
Please contact the practice.
The pneumococcal vaccine helps protect against serious illnesses like pneumonia and meningitis. It's recommended for people at higher risk of these illnesses, such as babies and adults aged 65 and over.
